Exercises

You'll walk through exercises for the Discover stage.

Exercise 1: Problem Identification

  1. Identify a problem you want to work on. Refer to the projects page for guidance.
  2. Write a brief description of the problem (2-3 sentences). Start with a partner challenge statement if you have one.
  3. List at least three groups of people who are most affected by this problem.

Exercise 2: Lament Practice

Follow these steps to craft a lament for the problem you identified:

  1. Address God
  2. Describe the problem to Him
  3. Recall testimony of God's faithfulness
  4. Petition Him
  5. Ask for God's intervention
  6. Praise Him in advance

Work on the lament as a team. We suggest you talk it out and have one person take notes.

(Optional) Copy and customize the Google Form

Do this if you want to customize and save the results on your Google Drive.

  1. Copy the Form:

  2. Customize the Script:

    • Open the copied Google FOrm.
    • Go to Extensions > Apps Script.
    • Replace YOUR_FOLDER_ID in the createPDF function with your own Google Drive folder ID.
  3. Run the createTrigger Function:

    • Select the createTrigger function from the dropdown menu and click the run button (play icon).
  4. Authorize the Script:

    • You will see a dialog that says "Authorization required." Click on "Review Permissions."
    • You will see a warning that says "This app isn't verified."
    • Click on "Advanced."
    • Click on "Go to [your project's name] (unsafe)."
    • Click on "Allow" to grant the necessary permissions.
  5. Test the Form:

    • Submit a response to the form to ensure the PDF is generated and saved in your specified Google Drive folder.

Your lament becomes the prayer as you begin working on the project.
